    Why this exists

    Why we include this

Most travel insurance policies specifically exclude anything arising from elective surgery you travelled overseas to have. It is the one risk you actually want covered, and it is the one commonly written out. Nuviya Medical Travel Insurance is built for medical travel instead of around it. Every Australian patient who arranges their surgery through Nuviya is enrolled automatically in our group policy, underwritten by a regulated international insurer, at no charge. You pay nothing. It is part of your Nuviya package.

    1

    You confirm your surgery date

Enrolment happens once your procedure and travel dates are confirmed with Nuviya.

You are added to the group policy at no cost to you, more than 96 hours before departure.

    3

    You receive the policy documents

You get the wording, limits, conditions and exclusions before you commit to anything. Ask your patient advisor for a copy at any time.

    4

You travel with cover in place

Complication benefits, travel benefits and the 24-hour assistance line are active for your trip.

    5

If something goes wrong, you notify the claims manager

Contact the claims manager before any non-emergency additional treatment, and Healthcase immediately in an emergency.

Read this before you rely on it

    What this cover is not

    • This is not private health insurance, not a major medical policy and not comprehensive. It does not replace Medicare or Australian private health cover.
    • It does not pay for the surgery, recovery accommodation or routine post-operative care.
    • It does not guarantee workmanship, skill, aesthetic outcome, or that a procedure achieves its intended result.
    • Pre-existing conditions, pregnancy and childbirth, mental health conditions, and a condition first appearing during travel that had not been previously diagnosed are excluded.
    • Not following pre- or post-operative instructions will invalidate a complication claim.
    • Benefits are excess of any other valid and collectable cover.
    • Benefits are reimbursed.
    • Standard exclusions apply, including war and terrorism, criminal acts, intoxication, self-inflicted injury, and a list of adventure and winter sports.
    If something goes wrong

    Making a claim

The one rule that matters most

Notify the claims manager before any non-emergency additional treatment. If notice is not given beforehand, the most payable on that non-emergency claim is US$1,000 in total across all benefits, regardless of the cost of treatment. In a genuine emergency, call the assistance line for pre-authorisation as soon as you are able.
