Cosmetic Surgery Prices: Australia vs Overseas (2026)

Cosmetic surgery in Australia is typically quoted surgery-only, so the advertised figure is rarely what you pay. The tables below compare validated Australian price bands with an all-in Brazil cost through Nuviya — surgery, flights, accommodation, transfers, insurance and our service fee included. On procedures where a genuine saving exists, Australians save up to 45% against typical Australian pricing. On a few, the two markets are comparable, and we say so.

    The comparison

Australia vs Brazil, procedure by procedure

Australian figures are surgery-only bands (low – median – high). The Brazil column is a complete all-in cost through Nuviya, built from the cheapest defensible combination of fare, accommodation and stay length, so it can never overstate the difference. All amounts in AUD.

Two procedures — single-area liposuction and breast augmentation with implants — are shown here because this is a reference page, but validated Australian pricing puts them at or near parity once travel is counted. We do not advertise a saving on either.

    Reading a quote

What is and is not included

The largest difference between the two columns above is not the surgery — it is scope. Australian quotes are typically surgery-only, and overseas package prices commonly exclude flights. Always ask a practice, in either market, for a written itemised quote.

    What drives the range

Why two quotes for the same operation differ

A price band is wide because the operation behind it is not one fixed thing. These are the clinical variables that move the number, procedure by procedure.

    Liposuction (single area)

    Australia A$9,000A$15,000 · Brazil all-in from A$10,200 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

One area, usually under twilight sedation in a day-surgery unit. The range moves with the volume of fat removed, whether the surgeon uses power-assisted or ultrasound-assisted technique, anaesthetist time and the compression garments included afterwards.

    Liposuction (multi-area)

    Australia A$10,000A$20,000 · Brazil all-in from A$11,700 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

Cost scales with the number of areas treated and therefore with theatre and anaesthetist time. Multi-area cases more often need a licensed hospital rather than a day-surgery unit, and an overnight bed adds to the quote.

    Breast augmentation (implants)

    Australia A$14,000A$18,000 · Brazil all-in from A$12,700 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

Implant choice is the single biggest driver: textured versus smooth, round versus anatomical, and the manufacturer's warranty. Beyond that, submuscular placement takes longer in theatre than subglandular, and revision-grade surgeons price above first-time operators.

    Breast lift (mastopexy)

    Australia A$12,000A$22,000 · Brazil all-in from A$12,200 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

The extent of the lift decides the operating time — a periareolar lift is far shorter than a full anchor-pattern mastopexy. Cases combining a lift with tissue rearrangement or fat grafting sit at the top of the band.

    Breast augmentation + lift

    Australia A$16,000A$30,000 · Brazil all-in from A$16,700 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

Two procedures in one anaesthetic. Price is driven by implant selection plus the added theatre time for the lift, and by whether the surgeon stages the operation for a patient with significant ptosis.

    Rhinoplasty

    Australia A$12,000A$32,000 · Brazil all-in from A$12,200 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

Primary versus revision is the largest factor: revision work takes longer and often requires cartilage grafting from the rib or ear. Functional correction of the septum or turbinates adds surgical time, and some of that portion may attract a Medicare item number in Australia.

    Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

    Australia A$13,000A$28,000 · Brazil all-in from A$14,300 · Recovery stay 1416 nights

A mini abdominoplasty is a fraction of the theatre time of a full tummy tuck with muscle repair. Muscle repair, hernia repair, flank liposuction, an overnight or two-night hospital stay and the anaesthetist's time all push a quote upwards.

    Eyelid surgery (upper + lower)

    Australia A$9,000A$18,000 · Brazil all-in from A$10,400 · Recovery stay 710 nights

Upper lids alone is a short local-anaesthetic case; adding lower lids, fat repositioning or a canthopexy roughly doubles the operating time. Hospital versus in-rooms setting is the other main swing factor.

    Brow lift

    Australia A$7,000A$20,000 · Brazil all-in from A$10,400 · Recovery stay 710 nights

Endoscopic brow lifts need specialised equipment and a longer anaesthetic than a direct or temporal lift. Combining the brow with upper-lid surgery in one anaesthetic usually costs less than the two done separately.

    Facelift (rhytidectomy)

    Australia A$17,000A$50,000 · Brazil all-in from A$15,200 · Recovery stay 1014 nights

Technique drives the range more than anything else: a short-scar or mini lift is a very different operation from a deep-plane facelift with neck work. Deep-plane surgery takes many hours of theatre and anaesthetist time and is priced accordingly.

    Mummy makeover

    Australia A$22,000A$47,000 · Brazil all-in from A$17,800 · Recovery stay 1416 nights

This is a combination, so the price depends entirely on what is combined — most often abdominoplasty with muscle repair plus a breast lift or augmentation. Longer anaesthetics require a licensed hospital, an overnight or two-night bed, and careful patient selection.

    Methodology

    • Australian figures are compiled from published, dated Australian price lists from practising surgeons and from professional-body patient guidance. They are indicative bands, not quotes.
    • Savings are measured against the Australian median, never the top of the market, so the comparison is against a typical price rather than the most expensive one available.
    • The Brazil column is the cheapest defensible all-in total: the low end of the surgical band, the cheapest departure fare, the cheapest nightly rate, the shortest clinically appropriate stay, visa and transfers, and Nuviya's flat A$1,500 service fee. Medical-travel insurance is complimentary and paid by Nuviya, so it adds nothing to the total.
    • Final cost always depends on an individual assessment by your surgeon. Fares, exchange rates and accommodation prices move.

    Pricing questions, answered

It is not a discount on the surgery itself. Brazil trains an unusually large number of plastic surgeons, operates at very high volume, and has far lower theatre, staffing and indemnity costs than Australia. The surgeon's skill is not what is being reduced — the overheads around them are.
